HPL Telephone Etiquette Guidelines

  1. Please use three part telephone greeting when answering public service telephones.
  1. Using Cisco Phones to make a conference call
Step 1: During a call, press the Confrn soft key (press More once and you should see it). This selects a new line and places the other party on hold.
Step 2: Place a call to the second number by using the dial pad as usual.

Step 3: When the call connects, press Confrn soft key again to add the original party to the conference call.

When the initiator of the call disconnects, the call is terminated.

This may be helpful when having staff meetings without all being in the same building.
  1. Transferring an Incoming Call
Step 1. Answer the call – do not put call on hold
Step 2: Press transfer soft key. This places the call on hold.
Step 3: Dial the number that the call will be transferred to.
Step 4: When the dialed number rings, wait for the party to answer so you can announce the call, and then press the Transfer soft key.
Step 5: If the party refuses the call, press Resume soft key to rejoin the original call
Step 6: Offer voice mail to the caller and press * and select Transfer key. The caller will be able to leave a message.

Please do not transfer call without waiting for the party on the other side to ensure someone is available to answer and to announce the call.

Thank you,

Shammi
